The agroecological transition of agricultural systems in the Global South
To satisfy the food and economic requirements of growing rural and urban communities, please increasingly demanding consumers, preserve natural resources and adapt to climate change, we urgently need to change how we produce. For the book's coordinators, "the extent and urgency of the challenges faced mean that production methods in the global South must be part of an approach centring on the concepts of agroecology".
Over the past decade, CIRAD and AFD have worked on agroecology with producers, researchers, development professionals and decision makers in many southern countries. In this book, 130 experts express their thoughts on the future of agroecology as a tool to help farming systems in the global South adapt to global change, and analyse what will govern the success of the agroecological transition.
